Frontrunners/Frontwalkers Chicago produced its award-winning water station for last Sunday's LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon. The theme was Wizard of Oz, with many Wicked Witches, Dorothies, and even a Tin Man handing out beverages on Broadway.
The Righteously Outrageous Twirling Corps (ROTC) and Lakeside Pride band also helped spark the runners as they headed into their eighth mile.
The entire strip of Broadway from Addison to Belmont was one huge festival of activities, with more music from the Broadway United Methodist Church Choir singing, 'Guide My Feet While I Run This Race.'
But the highlight is always the Frontrunners/Frontwalkers cheerleader boyz, high-kicking for the runners, prompting mostly smiles from the 40,000 men and women along the route. Their clever cheers and high energy are always a favorite, even if it makes a few of the men a bit uncomfortable.
Hundreds of AIDS Foundation of Chicago runners also helped raise funds, running and walking their hearts out for a good cause.
