The American Fertility Association ( The AFA ) is hosting a free, educational event about pregnancy and family-building options for lesbians in Chicago.
Gay Women's Gathering will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 6::30 p.m. at Women & Children First, 5233 N. Clark, Chicago.
Faculty for the event include Dr. Laurence Jacobs of Fertility Centers of Illinois, Scott Brown of California Cryobank and Julie M. Tavoso of Law Offices of Julie M. Tavoso, LLC.
"This is the seventh in our national series of informational gatherings specific to the needs of hopeful lesbian moms," said Ken Mosesian, executive director of The AFA. "We've worked hard to assemble a top-rate knowledgeable team of presenters to help this community."
"Making informed and educated decisions on having a child can protect the legal rights of lesbian families as well as conserve the financial and emotional resources necessary on this journey," said Dr. Laurence Jacobs with Fertility Centers of Illinois. "Our priority is to help you achieve the family of your dreams safely and securely."
Dr. Jacobs has helped many lesbians have a family, including Dana and Kira Crosby. The couple shares their emotional journey to have son Maverick in a short video: www.youtube.com/watch .
The evening is focused on the lesbian community, but all are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served and educational gift bags given to all participants.
