JUNE 2- TELEVISION SHOW - Independent Lens "Limited Partnership" 10 PM on 11.1 WTTW HD. This show chronicles the 40-year love story between Filipino American Richard Adams and his Australian husband Tony Sullivan who, in 1975, were one of the first same sex couples in the world to be legally married (thanks to a courageous county clerk in Boulder, Colorado). After that, Richard was denied a green card and the Immigration and Naturalization Service sent a letter stating, "You have failed to establish that a bona fide relationship can exist between two faggots." Outraged at the tone, tenor and politics of the letter—and to prevent Tony's deportation—they embarked on a journey that included bringing a lawsuit against the federal government. Individuals from such divergent backgrounds as Japanese, Bolivian and Cherokee, as well as from various religious denominations such as Mormon, Jewish, Roman Catholic, Hindu and Southern Baptist share intimate accounts of how their children revealed their sexual orientation and discuss the responses. JUNE 26- TELEVISION SHOW - Independent Lens "Limited Partnership" 3:30 PM on 11.1 WTTW HD. This show chronicles the 40 year love story between Filipino American Richard Adams and his Australian husband Tony Sullivan who, in 1975, were one of the first same sex couples in the world to be legally married (thanks to a courageous county clerk in Boulder, Colorado). After that, Richard was denied a green card and the Immigration and Naturalization Service sent a letter stating, "You have failed to establish that a bona fide relationship can exist between two faggots." Outraged at the tone, tenor and politics of the letter—and to prevent Tony's deportation—they embarked on a journey that included bringing a lawsuit against the federal governmemnt.
