"The Skinny" tells the story of five Brown University classmates who reunite one year after graduation for Gay Pride weekend in New York City.
During the evening, a Q&A session will be held with writer/ director Patrik-Ian Polk and cast member Jussie Smollett, on the roles of culture in the fight against HIV/AIDS among Black Gay/B/SGL men. The first 50 people to RSVP will receive one free ticket to a showing of "The Skinny", which will be showing from April 27th-May 3rd at the Landmark Century Theater in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood.
FREE MOVIE TICKETS
To claim movie tickets, recipients must attend "The Director Cut" screening on April 26. Tickets will be available for pick-up at the end of the screening. All recipients of free tickets to see "THE SKINNY" will be notified via email and text with a confirmation number to show with proof of identification (DL, school ID, etc.). The confirmation will be required to pick up movie tickets at the theater.

AWARD PRESENTATION
Guest of honor Patrik Ian-Polk will be presented with the Marlon Rigg's Director's Cut Award* by E. Patrick Johnson. E. Patrick Johnson is professor, chair, and director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Performance Studies and professor in African American Studies at Northwestern University. A scholar/artist, Johnson has performed nationally and internationally and has published widely in the area of race, gender, sexuality and performance. He is the author of Appropriating Blackness: Performance and the Politics of Authenticity, Black Queer Studies: A Critical Anthology and is currently performing in Pouring Tea: Black Gay Men of the South Tell Their Stories, based on excerpts from his book, Sweet Tea: Black Gay Men of the SouthAn Oral History.
The Marlon Riggs Director's Cut Award is named for Marlon Riggs (1957—1994), a gay African-American filmmaker, educator, poet, and gay rights activist. Riggs produced, wrote, and directed several television documentaries, including Ethnic Notions, Tongues Untied, Color Adjustment, and Black Is. . . Black Ain't. Riggs' aesthetically innovative and socially provocative films examine past and present representations of race and sexuality in America. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, and a master's degree in journalism from University of California-Berkeley.
CAST APPEARANCE
Also making a special guest appearance will be the film's lead actor, Jussie Smollett, who plays Magnus in the tale of five college friends who reunite in NYC for a weekend of sex, sin and self-examination.
