In the wake of an investigation regarding the murder of Villa Park resident Rebecca 'Becky' Klein, Robert L. Edwards of Elk Grove Village was freed on $500,000 bond on April 4.
However, Edwards, 40, still has to deal with charges of obstructing charges after reportedly lying to police about his whereabouts when Klein was murdered, a representative from the DuPage State's Attorney's Office told Windy City Times. The rep stated that Edwards was at the Klein residence when police arrived, and misled authorities regarding where he was. Also, in an interesting twist, identical handkerchiefs to those used to suffocate Klein were also found in Edwards' home.
Nicole Abusharif, 26, Klein's partner of five years—and former co-worker of Edwards, according to the Chicago Sun-Times—is suspected of killing Klein, 32, possibly for financial gain. Abusharif reported Klein missing on March 16 after being contacted by the victim's boss, who wanted to know where she was. Detectives soon appeared at Klein and Abusharif's house—and found the victim's body the next day in the trunk of a Ford Mustang in the couple's garage.
Meanwhile, Range in Motion, where the victim worked, opened the Becky Klein Adult Care Program in Naperville on April 4—on what would have been Klein's 33rd birthday. In another development, The Daily Herald has reported that Klein's parents were surprised to discover that the Villa Park residence had been cleared of its possessions. |
