CHICAGOPlanned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL) is pleased to announce the relocation of its Loop Health Center to a new, larger space at 16 N. Wabash Ave. The move is part of PPIL's preparation for an increase in out-of-state abortion patients as the Supreme Court appears poised to overturn Roe v. Wade this year, which means every state that borders Illinois could quickly ban abortion. The location officially opens its doors to patients on Monday, Feb. 14.
"Year over year, we have seen growing numbers of abortion restrictions enacted across the nation, as well as growing numbers of out-of-state patients coming to Illinois for care," said Jennifer Welch, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Illinois. "With this expansion, we are reaffirming our commitment to our current Loop patients as well as actively preparing for a surge of out-of-state patients who may be forced to travel because they are unable to get the essential health care they needand deserveclose to home."
The new Loop Health Center is larger than its previous location, increasing the footprint from 4,000 to 5,600 square feet, adding additional waiting room seating, increasing the size of exam rooms, and adding four consultation rooms. PPIL remains committed to its current Chicago patients and to keep the health center in a convenient location, centrally located near public transportation and both Chicago airports, to help PPIL continue to meet growing demands for service in the area.
