Terry Cosgrove, CEO of Personal PAC, will be moderating the panel discussion "Reproductive Rights: The Politics of Race, Class, and Gender". The diverse panel will talk about the intersections of race, class and gender in the fight for reproductive rights and how the right-wing is using religion to discriminate widely against women and LGBTQ people. The free panel will be held from 5:30pm 7:00pm on Thursday, April 28th, at Weinberg/Newton Gallery, 300 W. Superior Street, Suite 203.
The panelists include Camilla B. Taylor, counsel for Lambda Legal and National Marriage Project Director from 2010 through 2015. As an equal marriage and pro-choice advocate, Taylor is in the middle of the fight against those who would use religion as a tool to undermine and destroy both LGBTQ and reproductive rights. Senator Toi Hutchinson is a leading pro-choice and LGBTQ voice in Springfield. She has passed many laws that protect women, children, seniors and people with disabilities. Ramon Gardenhire is the vice president of policy for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago ( AFC ) and oversees AFC's advocacy and policy work at the federal, state and local level. Gardenhire was also a leader in the coalition, which included Personal PAC, which helped enact comprehensive sexual health education in Illinois.
The panel is part of "Your body is a battleground", an art exhibition that focuses on the many ways art and artists have moved the pro-choice and feminists movements forward. All of the art is available for auction to benefit Personal PAC at paddle8.com/auction/personalpac from 5:00pm CDT on April 15 until 9:00pm CDT on June 9.
Personal PAC is a non-partisan political action committee ( PAC ) dedicated to electing pro-choice candidates to state and local offices in Illinois. Personal PAC identifies tens of thousands of pro-choice voters, professionally develops direct mail campaigns to educate and motivate pro-choice voters, initiates an Election Day get-out-the-vote program, and assembles campaign strategists to provide pro-choice candidates with the tools to win on Election Day. Further questions regarding Personal PAC's political strategy can be directed to Terry Cosgrove, President & CEO, at 312-422-0005. |
