James Owen, a 15-year employee of the local gay bar Little Jim's and a partner of the late gay-rights activist Thom Dombkowski, passed away March 31. He was 54.
'He had this wonderful, dry sense of humor,' Jeff Shand, Owen's roommate, told Windy City Times. 'He was such a sweetheart.'
The funeral service was held privately by his family. A celebration of Owen's life was held Sun., April 13, at Little Jim's, 3501 N. Halsted.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made to the North Side Groceryland ( associated with Vital Bridges ) , 5543 N. Broadway, Chicago, Ill., 60640. |
