Milwaukee will host the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC).
According to Politico, RNC committee chair Ronna McDaniel tweeted, "I am excited to announce that the RNC has voted unanimously to select Milwaukee as the host city for the 2024 Republican National Convention! Milwaukee is a world-class city, and we are eager to see it shine in the spotlight come 2024."
Milwaukee was recommended by a GOP site selection panel in mid-July and formally chosen as the host city during the RNC's August meeting in Chicago.
Former President Donald Trump won Wisconsin in 2016 but lost it to President Joe Biden in 2020 by less than 1 percentage point.
And speaking of Chicago, the Windy City is hoping to host the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC).
Chicago is competing with New York, Atlanta and Houston, according to CBS Chicago.
"I just want to tell you, we are back, we are readyand why not Chicago? And on top of all this, we welcomed more than 30 million visitors to our city. The prospect of welcoming an additional 50,000 visitors in 2024 is, therefore, as feasible as it is exciting," Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said recently.
Chicago last hosted the convention in 1996.
