Appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' daytime talk show last month, Martin said that he's a recent vegetarian. Martin said, "I am not eating meat at all, and I feel amazing. No medication anymore [for high cholesterol]." PETA is also honoring Pamela Anderson, Mayim Bialik, Joan Jett, Joaquin Phoenix, Casey Affleck, Paul McCartney, Bob Barker and others.
Openly gay professional boxer Orlando Cruz married his partner, Jose Manuel Colon, in a ceremony in New York's Central Park, according to LGBTQ Nation. The ceremony was officiated by New York City Council member Melissa Mark-Viverito, and the witnesses were Pedro Julio Serrano of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and Shirley Casiano.
The USA Network has declined to pick up a fourth season of the show Necessary Roughness, according to Deadline.com . Necessary Roughness starred Callie Thorne as New York Hawks sports psychologist Dani Santino, who struggled to balance her personal and private lives. The show tackled several hot topics, including a plot about an athlete struggling with coming out of the closet because he was concerned about his celebrity image.
Actor Channing Tatum has posted a video to his YouTube account that parodies Jean-Claude Van Damme's display of flexibility between two Volvo trucks in a commercial, according to E! Online. In the video, Tatum—in character as Jenko on the set of his comedy film 22 Jump Street—gazes into the camera as viewers discover he is standing on two food carts.

Nick Cannon will also return as host, which counts X Factor judge Simon Cowell among its executive producers. A French-language film about famed fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent is due in France early next year, according to The UK Telegraph. Pierre Berge—the co-founder of Yves Saint Laurent's eponymous fashion house as well as longtime business partner and former life partner of the Algeria-born design star—has endorsed the Jalil Lespert movie, which focuses greatly on their romantic relationship. However, Berge has not endorsed another Saint Laurent biopic due next year that stars Gaspard Ulliel. Saint Laurent in June 2008 of brain cancer at home in Paris.
Joan Rivers is back in hot water with Writers Guild of America ( WGA ) East after she called Fashion Police scribes "schmuck writers" and "idiots," according to Deadline.com . "Her latest statement egregiously violates the spirit of the rest of the settlement," said Michael Winship, president of the WGA East. In contrast to her pro-guild stance of just more than a month ago after Rivers avoided an Oct. 14 disciplinary hearing in New York City to determine whether the E! host had violated the union's rules by writing and performing showrunner duties for the show during the strike, Rivers now appears to have changed sides.
Former world champions are among the many surfers who have participated in OUT in the Line-up, a feature documentary uncovering the taboo of homosexuality in surfing, according to a media release. The film has just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $30,000 by Dec. 13 to secure funds for its release in early 2014. Despite an increase in the number of elite athletes coming out in other sports, there has reportedly never been an openly gay surfer on the professional tour.
Hugh Jackman has revealed that he had a cancerous growth removed from his nose, according to CNN.com . The actor posted a picture of his bandaged nose on his Instagram account with a message to fans: "[My wife] Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! Singer Aaron Carter filed a bankruptcy petition to get rid more than $2 million in debt, mostly taxes owed from when he was making tons of money as a teen sensation, CNN.com noted. The U.S. government is Carter's biggest creditor, according to the petition. He owes the Internal Revenue Service $1.3 million in back taxes from his income in 2003, when Carter was just 16. His petition claims that he had just $60 cash in his wallet, $917 in his checking account and $5 in his savings account.
After work on Broadway, film and opera, Tony-winning director Julie Taymor has returned to William Shakespeare, directing A Midsummer Night's Dream for Brooklyn's Theatre for a New Audience, Playbill noted. Taymor is noted for The Lion King and her troubled tenure on Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Taymor is adding several unique elements, including a score by Elliot Goldenthal ( Taymor's partner ); a visual motif of sheets and silks to create a world of shadows and dreams; and a group of 16 children as "rude elementals" to replace the fairies.
Lady Gaga will lead the last dance at New York City's Roseland Ballroom with a string of special shows starting March 28, according to the New York Daily News. Reports first circulated back in October that the legendary midtown venue would close by early 2014. However, the Gaga announcement offers the first official confirmation that it's actually happening. Roseland has operated at various times in the city since it opened in 1919, in a space located right around the corner from its current location on 52nd Street, west of Broadway.
Speaking of Gaga, she will join the Muppets on Thanksgiving for a holiday special Nov. 28, On Top Magazine noted. Lady Gaga and the Muppets Holiday Spectacular will feature Gaga, RuPaul, Sir Elton John and Joseph Gordon-Levitt duetting with the Muppets. Kristen Bell will also appear in the special, which will air 9:30 p.m. ET.

Hunger Games actor Josh Hutcherson recently said he'd pick co-star Lenny Kravitz over another co-star, Liam Hemsworth, as a hypothetical gay crush, according to a Huffington Post item. Of Kravitz, Hutcherson said he has "the cool, like, artist kind of thing. ... He's got it going on." In a November interview with Out magazine, Hutcherson said he's "mostly straight."
Alex Newell, the actor who plays the transgender character Wade "Unique" Adams on TV's Glee, condemned remarks talk-show host Bill O'Reilly made regarding Unique, according to The Huffington Post. O'Reilly recently came under fire for stating, "If you make [transgender identity] glamorous in a program like Glee, which is undeniably a good program ... a lot of these dopey kids are confused about who they are." Oprah Winfrey and Diablo Cody are developing an HBO comedy based on Dr. Julie Holland's book Moody Bitches, according to The Chicago Tribune. HBO's logline for the show says it "exposes the truth about the drugs you're taking, the sex you're not having, the sleep you're missing and what's really making you crazy." The show marks the first collaboration between the actress, talk-show host and OWN CEO and Cody, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Juno and Young Adult.
Lifetime has renewed the drama Witches of East End for a second season, according to Deadline.com . The show stars Julia Ormond, Madchen Amick, Jenna Dewan Tatum and Rachel Boston as a family of witches living in the secluded seaside town of East Haven. The series has received a 13-episode order for a 2014 premiere.
Anderson Cooper has signed a new contract to stay at CNN through the 2016 presidential election, The Huffington Post noted. Cooper currently hosts AC 360 and the panel show AC 360 Later. His new deal means that he will be staying at the CNN as network president Jeff Zucker continues to revamp CNN's other programming. The Today Show approached Cooper earlier this year.
Warren Beatty and Annette Bening's transgender son appears in a new PSA video, according to The New York Daily News. Stephen Ira Beatty, 21, appears in a video opposing a New York State Medicaid regulation that bars transgender people from accessing health care. "As a trans person, I would hope that I'd be welcomed but many trans people aren't because we don't have the basic health care coverage we need to survive," Beatty says in the spot GLAAD co-sponsored. Last year, Beatty appeared in WeHappyTrans.com's 7 Questions Project, where transgender individuals talk about role models, support systems and how they transitioned from one sex to another.

Elton John has said that he and partner David Furnish plan to marry on the "first day" same-sex marriage is possible in 2014 in England and Wales, according to Pink News. John told CNN's Christiane Amanpour, "Listen—David and I are [a] very high-profile gay couple, probably the most high-profile gay couple in the world. You have to set an example." John and Furnish were among the very first couples in the United Kingdom to enter a civil partnership, holding a ceremony in December 2005.

Singer LeAnn Rimes got into an exchange on Twitter regarding her ex, Dean Sheremet, according to Us Weekly. The latest drama started when Twitter user Da Giggle Factory tweeted an old photo of the country star along with the caption, "Remember the good old days when @leannrimes was just a chubby country bumpkin married to a gay dude?" Rimes ( now married to Eddie Cibrian ) laughed off the remark—but Sheremet thought the word "gay" was meant as an insult in this instance and was upset Rimes didn't say otherwise. Rimes responded that she has strong ties to the gay community and that Sheremet isn't gay.
The globally popular band One Direction announced the dates for the North America leg of its worldwide "Where We Are" 2014 stadium tour, according to a press release. The 21-city tour kicks off Aug. 1, 2014, in Toronto at Rogers Centre and includes stops in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Dallas and Miami, among other cities. One Direction consists of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.
MSNBC and Alec Baldwin's management team announced that they have "mutually" parted ways and the actor's six-week-old talk show host,"Up Late with Alec Baldwin, has been canceled, according to NBC News. "Up Late" had been on a two-week hiatus following Baldwin's suspension from the network in the wake of video footage of the actor allegedly shouting anti-gay slurs to a paparazzo in November. In a Nov. 16 editorial, Baldwin expressed uncertainty over his program's return.
