probed by Pubert
Pubert: Hey Bret, nice to get to talk to you on the phone. Are you busy?
Wolfe: You caught me doing dishes.
P: Oh, a day in the life of a porn star. How exactly did you get started in this crazy biz?
W: Well, I was born in San Francisco but moved to L.A. when I was 18. I got a degree there in English and Theatre History. In 2003, I worked as a segment producer for Dick Clark Productions. One night, I met Chad Hunt at a party, went home with him and after fucking me three times, he was impressed. Through him, I met Chi Chi Larue, who put me on the internet, which led to my first movie. Now, after 21 movies and 10 awards the rest is history.
P: But you don't just work for Chi Chi. You work for other companies, right?
W: Correct, I am non exclusive. This makes me different than many other porn stars. I work with Raging Stallion, Jet Set, Falcon, among others.
P: Who's your favorite co-star?
W: Michael Soldier! He was in a movie with me called Dirty Director and we had my favorite sex scene. I forgot the cameras were there. We went at it for three hours. It was intense and emotional.
P: Sounds hot. Do you have to exercise intensely for this business?
W: Well, there is the porn star diet.
P: Tell our readers about that!
W: Well, in between movies, you eat anything you want. Then two or three weeks before filming, you work out and watch what you eat, protein, etc. After a movie wraps, I eat a whole pizza.
P: We could market this! So what exactly makes you a 'power bottom?'
W: Howard Stern asked me the same thing! It means I can take any size and go for a long time. It was scary going on the Howard Stern show. I was the second gay porn star to go on there. But he was really nice and wonderful, then I had to fly directly back to Chicago and bartend at Gentry.
P: That's a surreal experience.
W: Exactly. Afterwards, a lady ran up to me at Nordstroms and said, 'You're Bret Wolfe, the power bottom!' It is a weird kind of celebrity sometimes.
P: Do you have any advice for young people that want that kind of fame?
W: I always say, when you get off the bus in the big city, get back on and go get an education. This is a business.
P: Good advice for any profession. What is in the future for the Wolfeman?
W: I am really excited about the Wet Palms series. It is a whole new concept for the industry, with ongoing stories and lots of dialogue. We sent a censored version to Gay and Lesbian Film Festival in Philadelphia and it sold out. Along with being pre-nominated for many awards.
P: This is exciting! So why the big plans to move to L.A.?
W: I really want to cross the barrier to mainstream and keep my name and that is the place to do it. I am having a going away party at the North End, to benefit TPAN, Friday the 30th at 10 p.m. and we will be giving away 30 movies to people that attend.
P: Well, Chicago will miss you! Come back and visit. I will let you get back to those dishes that you will soon be packing.
After talking to him, I was impressed at what a down-to-earth guy Bret is. This is one Wolfe that can blow my house down!
