The Chicago History Museum (CHM), 1601 N. Clark, recently released its Out at CHM series program schedule for 2008.
The series addresses the history of LGBT Chicagoans. The Jan. 31 program, 'Sexual Politics: From the Lavender Scare to Larry Craig,' features historians David Johnson and Lane Fenrich. 'Queer Conclusions: Sexuality and U.S. Citizenship,' featuring cultural historian Siobhan Somerville, will take place March 27. The final program on May 8, 'Screaming Queens and Lavender Panthers: A History of Transgender Activism,' features transgender activist and expert Susan Stryker.
Programs are $12/$10 for museum members and students with an ID. (The Jan. 31 program is $15/$12 for museum members and students due to an extra cocktail hour after the program). Programs begin at 6:30 p.m. See www.chicagohistory.org for information. |
