When Frank Lloyd Wright traveled to Japan for the first time in 1905, he used a 4-by-6-inch camera to document this adventure.

The 40 photographs from Wright's personal album are now the subject of an online exhibition ( WrightsJapan1905.org ) titled "1905: Japan Through the Lens of Frank Lloyd Wright," curated by David Bagnall of the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust.

In addition to Wright's photographs, the exhibition website includes an interactive map charting Wright's route through the country, interpretive essays exploring the relevance of the photographs to Wright's work and a timeline detailing Wright's enduring relationship with Japanese art and culture.
