It is official, after eight years on Belmont (and 16+ in Lakeview), our offices are moving Sept. 1 to 1940 W. Irving, just west of the Ravenswood El, just east of Damen. Our phones are expected to remain the same, but with the phone companies, you never know. We do prefer all press releases to be sent via fax (773-871-7609) or e-mail, not snail mail: editor@windycitytimes.com . Things will be a little chaotic during the move (volunteers always welcome to help unpack), so make sure to send news releases ASAP.

The world's best political commentator (OK, in my humble opinion) Molly Ivins is coming to town Thursday, Oct. 2, 7:30, hosted by Women & Children First books at the Swedish American Museum, a block south of the store. She's signing her new book, Bushwhacked: Life in George W. Bush's America. With the media focused on Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, most of the havoc President Bush is causing on the home front has been flying under the radar. Ivins warns us that while we've been distracted, the 'worst public policy created in Texas has gone national.' Just looking at the current economic situation, the administration's increasingly abysmal environmental record, and the unprecedented challenges to our civil liberties, Ivins says, you can see that the nation has been Bushwhacked. This will be a ticketed event; one free ticket will be given with the purchase of each copy of the book at $24.95. Books available starting Sept. 23, but pre-order at the store or call (773) 769-9299.
