Congrats to the folks who not only won at the Oscars, but who risked boos for speaking their minds about war and peace. While some stuck to safe statements, Michael Moore went WAY out on a limb (where he lives) and got a loud set of boos, which drowned out his few supporters. See Windy City Times for Oscar winners. Also Sunday, about 300 folks attended a 'queer' anti-war event downtown, with speaker Leslie Feinberg and others. Many GLBTs were among those arrested Thursday in the police sweep, including our own John Pennycuff and Robert Castillo, detained overnight in a crowded cell, and then released without charges Friday.
