CPA Theatricals' workshop production of Numbers Nerds, or the Almost All-Girl Math Challenge, was selected to be produced at the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival Aug. 13 at noon and Aug. 27 at noon.
Numbers Nerds is the story of an all-girl math team from Our Lady of Perpetual Chastity ( now a charter school ) in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The mathletes have just won the Regional Math Competition and are chosen to compete in the National Math SUM-IT.
These smart and funny whiz kids must unite to solve difficult math problems without getting distracted by math club drama or the pressures of getting into the right college. It is a story of girls becoming women and learning to work with each other by celebrating their diversity. This heartfelt musical comedy proves that not only can girls rock math, but they can make us laugh along the way.
The workshop is directed by Amber Mak ( Paramount Theatre, FWD Theatre ) and stars Hanah Rose Nardone as Amber, Madison Kauffman as Barbie, Jhardon DiShon Milton as Leroy, Danielle Davila as Mary Kate, Britain Gebhardt as McGery/Wanda and Maisie Rose as Melissa.
Numbers Nerds is based on a story by Larry Little, with music by David Kornfeld, lyrics by Alex Higgin-Houser, book by Laura Stratford, additional music by Dylan MarcAurele and Special Musical Arrangements by John Cockerill.
