The next OUTspoken storytelling event will take place Tuesday, April 6, starting at 7 p.m., on Zoom.
Speakers will include a writer/storyteller, a teacher, a professional photographer and a caregiver.
Joy Wright is a nominated Best-of-the-Net writer, a storyteller, a social-justice activist and a single mom. During the day, she is a fundraiser for an organization that promotes birth equitybut she spends her evenings telling stories at shows around the city. Her work has been published in The Huffington Post, Creative Nonfiction, Entropy Magazine and Rebellious Magazine.
Mark Brown has been a professional photographer for more than 20 years. He has traveled around the world to work with clients, but is most proud of his volunteer documentary and nonprofit work in Africa, which included photographing hospitals, clinics and orphanages. In his spare time, Brown is a part-time actor/stand-up comic. He is a proud graduate of the Second City Conservatory Training Center.
Jin-Soo Huh has spent his career working in education. He was a teacher, administrator, columnist and independent consultant, and is now an employee of a non-profit. While he grew up in Southern California, Chicago became his favorite city. He moved here to play tennis, attend musical theater and sing at Showtunes Sunday.
Rita Alvarez is a lifelong Chicagoan who is a caregiver as well as executive director of Sunflower Project US, an organization that lets citizen scientists help assess the state of North America's insect pollinators. She is also a volunteer at the Museum of Science & Industry, a community activist and a former teacher.
Kim L. Hunt and David Fink will host this event. The show is curated by Archy Jajun.
