The state legislature of New Mexico has passed a bill that would ban workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation, according to The New Mexican. The bill passed after the sponsor accepted an amendment exempting businesses with fewer than 15 employees. Gov. Bill Richardson is expected to sign the bill into law.

A Mississippi judge ordered the state to issue a birth certificate for a 5-year-old boy who was adopted by two lesbians. According to Lambda Legal, state law requires that the Board of Health issue amended birth certificates and honor out-of-state adoptions. The two women brought the boy back from a Mississippi hospital to their home in Vermont where the adoption was completed. Mississippi officials, until now, refused to issue the amended birth certificate. A New Jersey court issued a similar ruling earlier this month.

A bill to remove references to sexual orientation in the Minnesota Human Rights Act was killed on Friday, reports to Gay.com . Neither the House nor the Senate would allow the bill to be called for a hearing.
