New arrest connected to killing of northern Illinois LGBTQ+ police officer

Another person has been arrested in connection with the killing of one police officer and the wounding of a second at a northern Illinois hotel in late December 2021, ABC 7 Chicago reported.
The announcement came a day after a candlelight vigil to honor the slain officerBradley LGBTQ+ policewoman Marlene Rittmanicon what would have been her 50th birthday.
Illinois police Division of Criminal Investigation officials arrested Bradley resident Xavier Harris, 22, on Oct. 5 on two counts of obstructing justice and two counts of concealing or aiding a fugitive. Harris was issued a bond of $75,000; he is jailed in Kankakee.
On Dec. 29, the Bradley Police Department responded to a Comfort Inn on a report of dogs barking in an unattended vehicle. Rittmanic was shot and killed and Officer Tyler Bailey was also shot and critically wounded, police said. Darius Sullivan and Xandria Harris were subsequently charged with first-degree murder.
Rittmanic met her wife, Lyn Stua, on May 31, 1999; they were married June 11, 2011, NewsChannel20.com reported.
