Foodgasm, the sensual web cooking series, has recently launched an Indiegogo fundraising campaign to complete four more episodes on the new web series.
Launched April of this year, Foodgasm features saucy chef Ashley Simone, a dancer-actress who recently completed her culinary degree. Strongly influenced by the 1940s, the show features 5-7 minute episodes.
"I want to get people back into the kitchen. I want people to have the joy of creating food for themselves and for those they care about. I want people to be able to eat food and know what's in it. I want people to take the time to savor and delight in the food they eat. Because for me, food is love. And I am trying to pass that love around," says Simone.
The show, which is based in the Foodgasm YouTube channel, starts with Simone dancing on the set, and ends with the slogan "Food is love" and a kiss to the camera.
Simone shares producing credits with David Strzepek and Etta Worthington.
"We have a growing fan base," claims Strzepek. "And we are appealing to that fan base to make it possible to complete four more episodes."
Strzepek added that he believes in the future Foodgasm will have advertising and product placement revenue that will offset the cost of producing the show.
"Right now we want to be able to pay our crew for both production and post production jobs," says Strzepek. He says the show has some top Chicago-area professionals at work on it, everything from prep cooks, to hair and makeup artists, to camera people, to set dressers and sound recordist and boom operator.
Worthington, who also directs the show, says the show has a focus which is both specific and inclusive. "On a show, Ashley may create a gluten-free pizza crust, right along with a regular crust—just as tasty and full of flavor. One episode may have a vegan recipe—and meat lovers might not know it's vegan until you tell them. Another recipe may cater to the lactose-intolerant. Far from being dietary restrictions, we look at these lifestyle choices or necessities as challenges. Why not make food everyone can eat and enjoy!"
Strzepek has been in the promotions business for years and has in the last few years gotten into the film business. He met Worthington working on the feature Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together, and the two decided to team up with Simone for the launch of Foodgasm.
"We believe 2012 is going to the time when Foodgasm takes off," says Strzepek. "We are looking for people who want to help us make that happen.
