Thomas Gustafson, a graduate of Northwestern University, is preparing his feature film directorial debut, Were The World Mine.
His award-winning short musical, Fairies, has screened in over 75 international film festivals and currently airs on the gay network LOGO. The story and success of Fairies, which was shot in Chicago in 2003, inspired Were The World Mine. Were The World Mine is described as 'a story of empowerment that culminates in a love story,' as the movie tackles several issues, including same-sex marriage.
According to a release, the screenplay has been very well received at several New York City readings starring Broadway andTV stars. Plans are to shoot the feature beginning in April in Chicago.
