The Chicago Chapter of The NAMES Project Foundation ( NAMES Project Chicago ) will host a display of over 250 panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in the gymnasium of Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted, on June 27, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
The Quilt display is being held in conjunction with Center on Halsted and AIDS Foundation of Chicago's 'Preventing HIV: Ethics, Activism, and Promising New Strategies' day-long symposium.
The AIDS Memorial Quilt is the largest ongoing community-arts project in the world. Created 20 years ago, The Quilt currently memorializes over 85,000 individuals who have died from AIDS.

Hate Crimes Bill Passes Gen. Assembly
Senate Bill 1047, which amends the Illinois Human Rights Act to create the Commission on Discrimination and Hate Crimes Act and establish the Commission on Discrimination and Hate Crimes, has unanimously passed both chambers in the Illinois General Assembly.
The Senate vote was 58-0 and the House passed the measure 116-0.
The commission may comprise individuals in a wide variety of fields, ranging from law enforcement to religion. The bill, initially sponsored by Senate President Emil Jones, Jr., D-14th District, also provides that the commission shall submit a report to the governor and the General Assembly by March 30 of each calendar year.
