Mundo De-mente Penoso Adios al Papa

La iglesia católica es parte importante en nuestras familias, se hace presente desde que nacemos y se extiende al momento mismo de la muerte, cuando en los funerales el cura agita el agua bendita sobre el cuerpo apagado cuya alma emprende el camino para encontrarse con su creador, o para habitar los huecos de obscuridad y lamento que reservan el pago por nuestras culpas.

Sería casi un pecado dudar del lugar que le corresponde al recién fallecido Papa Juan Pablo II, por su valioso trabajo a lo largo de su pontificado, y por el simple hecho de que fue el máximo representante de la iglesia católica durante 26 años. El magisterio de ésta iglesia nos habla del contacto y/o inspiración directa del Papa con Dios y recibimos así muchas de las que son efectivamente enseñanzas sobresalientes de como vivir una vida honesta y de benevolencia. Sinembargo, el mundo supo también que Juan Pablo II hasta sus últimos momentos expresó su rechazo en temas que han sido de inquietud para muchos, como el uso del condón para prevenir embarazos no deseados e infecciones de transmisión sexual; o también, el rechazo a los homosexuales que viven una vida abierta y acorde a su orientación sexual.

El Papa reafirmó su condena a la utilización del condón incluso en las que fueron sus visitas a países africanos; continente que vive una situación devastadora con más personas viviendo con el VIH/SIDA a nivel mundial. En cuanto a la homosexualidad dijo: 'Es necesario preguntarse a sí mismo si esto no es, tal vez, parte de una ideología nueva del diablo, que intenta poner los derechos humanos contra la familia y contra el hombre', antes de morir hizo enviar comunicados instando a los gobiernos a no emitir leyes que beneficien a las parejas del mismo sexo.

En relación al párrafo anterior, realicé hace algunos meses una entrevista con el padre Ezequiel Sánchez, Director de la Oficina para Católicos Hispanos de la Arquidiosecis de Chicago, al cuestionarlo sobre estos temas me respondió que los condones son pecado porque no están abiertos a la vida, dijo que halagan a Dios aquellas parejas que realmente obedecen y tienen todos los hijos que él les manda. En Latinoamérica por ejemplo, existen familias que viven en condiciones precarias, de extrema pobreza y debido al gran numero de hijos, los padres no pueden otorgarles buenas condiciones de vida, el padre Ezequiel insistió en que estas personas tendrán una buena recompensa por haber cumplido con el mandato divino. En cuanto a los homosexuales, me confirmó que la iglesia rechaza la homosexualidad abierta, dijo que aceptan a quien es homosexual pero siempre y cuando no viva su vida intima y social como tal. Le hablé del sacrificio que ello implicaba para la gente que tiene ésta orientación sexual, su respuesta se basó nuevamente en que el cumplir con 'lo que Dios ya ha hablado' te garantiza, en pocas palabras, el paraíso.

Lo anterior nos lleva a observar la enorme cultura del sacrificio en la iglesia católica; el dolor y el sufrimiento como forma de bondad. Aún con Jesús clavado en la cruz se hace visible el sufrir como camino de salvación; renunciamos así a la capacidad de vivir una vida plena, de aspiraciones y de libertad autónoma para en su lugar transformarnos en objetos de obediencia a una lógica que se ha perdido en el tiempo. No confundamos, no se trata de libertinaje y desenfreno, sino de dignidad humana, de amar y aceptar las diferencias, se trata de respeto personal y también del ajeno.

La historia del catolicismo ha estado plagada de aberraciones, a las mujeres -como a los animales- se les consideraba seres sin alma, se insistía en que la tierra era plana, que la tierra era el centro del universo, que la gente se moría por los demonios. El Papa pidió perdón a indígenas, por la explotación que se les causó y por destruir sus formas de vida, a judíos, por la persecución y asesinatos en su contra, a las mujeres, por la histórica discriminación y sexismo que les han ocasionado a lo largo de los siglos -muchos coinciden que hasta ahora, tiempos en los que la mujer tiene limitada su participación en la iglesia y como todos vimos, ninguna estuvo presente en la elección del nuevo Papa-, de igual manera, se ha pedido perdón por los abusos sexuales a menores de edad. Sería importante que no pase mucho tiempo antes de que la iglesia reconozca también que algunas de sus posiciones -como el uso del condón o la homosexualidad- siguen siendo incorrectas, se han convertido incluso en inmorales. El sentido común que Dios nos ha dado se lo dice a muchas personas que se van alejado de la iglesia debido a estas ideas que ocasionan un peligroso daño, no solo personal, también social.

Juan Pablo II nos ha despedido ya, ojalá que las lagrimas que se derraman sean de felicidad porque de acuerdo a nuestras creencias no es de titubear que se reunirá con Dios. Además, a la muerte cualquiera le gana la partida cuando nos deja buenas acciones, servicio al prójimo y amor.

La iglesia católica ha vivido grandes transformaciones; este nuevo momento de transición debiera marcar el inicio de un período inteligente y moderno en estos que son los grandes pensamientos católicos.
