PBS (check local listings for time)—Lance Loud! A Death in the American Family: Alan and Susan Raymond, the filmmakers responsible for the revolutionary PBS documentary, An American Family, were asked by openly gay 'American Family' member Lance Loud to film a documentary that 'explores the legacy' of the late Lance Loud, who died in December of 2001. Aside from what was filmed with Lance towards the end of his life, documentary includes his memorial service footage as well as clips from An American Family. 'Beyond examining his role as America's first gay icon on television, the documentary delves into his years as a rock 'n' roll performer in his punk rock band, the Mumps, during the 1970s, and his later years as a writer and columnist for The Advocate, Details, Vanity Fair and other publications.' (Jan. 9, Jan. 12). An American Family: Following each showing of Lance Loud! A Death in the American Family, the original groundbreaking and controversial 1973, 12-hour documentary, An American Family, will be shown. (Jan. 9, Jan. 12)
