After being charged with corruption, charges of drug and gun possession seem to be dogging 20th Ward Alderman Arenda Troutman.
Evidence logs show that agents reportedly found suspected drugs, drug paraphernalia and a handgun, The Chicago Tribune reported.
Early last week, authorities charged Troutman with accepting a bribe regarding a development on the South Side. Troutman has denied the accusations.
Allegedly, drugs were recovered in the alderman's home on the 6500 block of South Kimbark, where the gun ( a revolver ) also was found. A 'white powdery substance in Ziploc plastic bag' was found in her office at 5958 S. State, the documents note.
Troutman's lawyer, Sam Adam, Jr., said he believes that testing will show the powder was a vitamin supplement.
Regarding the gun, Adam believes that Troutman lawfully possessed the firearm. Aldermen are an exception to Chicago's ban on handguns.
