The Love's in Need of Love Concert will be presented Nov. 21 by The Lighthouse Church of Chicago to benefit the church and homeless LGBT youth.
The concert fundraiser will take place at the Glessner House Museum at 8 p,m, is to be a night of music focused on the subject of loveromance, friendship, familyas well as the care and respect that we should all show each other as member of the human family. The secular performances will cross the spectrum of genres from jazz, to soul, to R&B to pop with all proceeds going to benefit the work of the Lighthouse Church of Chicagoa part of which is working with the city's homeless LGBT youth. The Lighthouse is working to launch a monthly meal/worship opportunity for homeless LGBT youth in the Lakeview/Boystown area of Chicago in coming months. Proceeds from this fundraiser will help make that vision a reality.
The concert features performances by inspirational singer, songwriter and arranger Clyde B. Easter, acclaimed local musician and teacher Rachael Weasley and award winning Music Director, writer and performer Jesse Stanford who also organized the event.
The church was founded in 2013 by Pastor Jamie Frazier with the goal of creating a church, which is open to people of all races, sexual orientations and gender identities. The church's motto is "Passionate About Jesus. Serious About Justice" and the congregation has since actively involved themselves in issues affecting Chicagoans such as poverty and homelessness.
"We wanted the ministry to further our community outreach efforts," Stanford said. "Homeless LGBT youth need all the love they can get. If the fundraiser is a success, we will be able to provide them with beds, food and clothing."
According to Stanford, the event is significant for a number of reasons. "The one thing we're really missing in society is the spirit of sharing," Stanford said. "People don't love anymore, especially when you think about LGBT youth who are homeless and displaced. It's painful to me. So we want to show, through song, inspiration and a lot of fun, what genuine and real love is and how much it can help our fellow human beings."
There is a $5 suggested minimum donation for the event. For more details, please visit: www.facebook.com/thelighthousechurchofchicago .
