CHICAGO ( June 13, 2017 ) MillerCoors is celebrating Pride Month in Chicago through the "Tap Into Change Program," which will direct 15 cents from every MillerCoors product sold towards non-profit organizations.
The program, formerly known as "Great Cents," will contribute up to $35,000 to local groups and agencies focused on LGBTQ and HIV/Aids related issues. Now in its sixth year, MillerCoors has donated more than $100,000 to local organizations through the Tap Into Change program.
Tap Into Change runs through August 31 at 19 participating locations, including: Big Chicks, Big Jim's, Charlie's, Crew, DS Tequila, Little Jim's, Minibar, North End, Progress Bar, R Public House, Roscoe's, Scot's, Sidetrack, SoFo, Spyners, The Closet, The Glenwood Pub, Touche and 626.
"We hope that consumers will feel good knowing they are doing more than just buying a beer when they purchase one of our products at these participating bars. They are helping to make an impact with organizations that are doing important work in the LGBT community," said Karina Diehl, MillerCoors director of community affairs. "Over the years, we have dedicated ourselves to investing in both national LGBT organizations and ones in our hometown markets, and this is the latest effort to ensure we're doing our part to give back to a community where we work and live."
"Partnerships like this one we have with MillerCoors and their Tap Into Change program are crucial to what we do," said Tico Valle, the CEO of the Center on Halsted. "They are the perfect example of what corporate citizenship should be and how they can make a positive impact on our community."
Other benefitting organizations include: About Face Theatre, Affinity, AIDS Foundation, American Veterans for Equal Rights, Care for Real, Center on Halsted, Chicago House, Fred Says, Howard Brown Health, Illinois Safe Schools Alliance, Kaleidoscope, Legacy Project, TPAN, Vital Bridges ( Heartland Health Outreach ) and YEPP.
