In an effort to forge more inclusive and accommodating spaces for ALL, Chicago's own Miller Lite and Equality Federation are launching "Miller Lite Open & Proud."
With this program, Miller Lite will listen to the unique challenges and intersectional needs of the LGBTQ+ community, then convert those insights into training materials that will be shared with the 55,000 bars and nightclubs that serve Miller Lite across the country.
A press release stated, "Despite progress, LGBTQ+ individuals still face discrimination in bars and other areas of business. While LGBTQ+ discrimination is not uncommon in 'straight' bars, gay bars are not always inclusive to all intersectional members of the community, either."
With "Open & Proud,":
Miller Lite will host town halls in key markets across the U.S. (Chicago being the first) where members of the LGBTQ+ community will share their honest, open thoughts on how bars can create a safer, more welcoming atmosphere for LGBTQ+ individuals.
Following these discussions, Miller Lite and Equality Federation will develop and distribute educational training materials to bar owners and employees at 55,000 bars and nightclubs carrying Miller Lite products by the end of 2022.
In addition, Miller Lite is also donating $250,000 to Equality Federation to help advance workplace fairness and equality for LGBTQ+ individuals at national and local levels.
Miller Lite will kick off Miller Lite Open & Proud with its first event in Chicago's Northalsted neighborhood in mid-July. More details will be shared soon.
