On a message left on Talkback at the Johnson County Sun, a caller said: "Regarding the caller who doesn't want his or her small boy in the woods with a homosexual: Homosexuality does not mean pedophilia. As the mother of three boys, I would rather have my son in a tent with a gay man than some Catholic priests."

Kathryn Taylor writes to Washington's Eastside Journal about bullying in schools: "It seems the Christian Right in this state is opposed to the curbing of bullying in schools, because they are against 'gay rights.'' Where have these people been? Bullying is not about 'censuring' biblically incorrect behavior. Bullying is about a broken nose, or thick glasses, or a stutter, or a weight problem, or anything else that sets a child apart.
"A child who is bullied either physically or verbally suffers throughout his youth and often carries his pain all his life. Many children cannot bear it and take their own lives. I am a Christian and I never did anything to hurt anybody. But because I was an ugly klutz I was pushed out of windows, knocked off of slides, beaten with sticks and so verbally tormented that now, in my mid-fifties, I still hear their taunts in my sleep. We need the suffering from this terrible social ill to stop, in the mercy of Christ."
