The Chicago Gay Hockey Association ( CGHA ) has decided to postpone its CGHA Market Days Classic hockey tournament as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The tournament had been scheduled for Aug. 6-9.

In a note at MarketDaysClassic.com, the CGHA stated, " We know that this comes as a disappointment to the players, sponsors, and organizers who have looked forward to this event, but we have been carefully monitoring the uncertainty and challenges surrounding the safety of large gatherings and global travel and we feel that this is the most responsible decision to make at this time.

"We appreciate the flexibility that our partners like the Chicago Blackhawks and Fifth Third Arena have shown us in this challenging time. The CGHA will continue to develop relationships with supporters of the gay hockey community to bring you an even bigger and better CGHA Market Days Classic during the summer of 2021."

Northalsted Market Days, originally slated to take place Aug. 8-9, has been moved to Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 5-6, in combination with Chicago's PrideFest celebration.
