Marcia Hill, the former president of the Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association ( CMSA ) , now serves as the chairman of CMSA's six-member Hall of Fame committee. She also is a Hall of Famer herself. Her comments about this year's class are as follows:
David Bartnick: "He has contributed to the welfare of CMSA for over 30 years. He stepped up in the past several years through his fundraising for charities and also sponsoring a lower-level softball team and providing instructions for new softball players to our leagues," Hill said.
Danny Tag: "He helped fill a leadership role by serving on the CMSA board of directors and also serving as president of CMSA for two years. His experience filling several roles lead to better quality sports programming and he has always been one to exhibit great sportsmanship during a game."
Johnny Cieplak: "He was a great athlete who was also good at making others around him better. His leadership in managing several Sidetrack softball teams in both the old 16-inch and [ the current ] 12-inch softball leagues helped our organization grow. Along with Art Johnston, he was instrumental in getting the men involved with NAGAAA."
Robbie Marshall: "He was a mainstay during our early years. You could always count on Robbie recruiting players to join his team and his teams were always well run; people had fun playing for Robbie and the Big Red athletic teams. If CMSA needed something done, from setting [ up ] the bases to helping with the concession stand, he was there for us. Robbie had the knack for getting the most out of his player's abilities and always made sure they were team players, the team came first [ with Marshall ] ."
