A Niles man recently wrote a letter to Crain's Chicago Business, complaining about gay events, including an upcoming Chicago Gay Men's Chorus ( CGMC ) musical.
On March 3, Crain's sent out an e-mail called '10 Things To Do This Weekend,' as it does each Friday. In this edition, the top thing to do was the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus Oscars event at Sidetrack.
However, in a letter to the editor entitled 'Headline: Things Not to Do,' Glenn Lowe said that he 'found it very disturbing when [ he ] checked [ his ] e-mail and the first thing that popped out was a night out at a gay bar.' He added that he 'clicked on the link and found the most disgusting lineup of Oscar statues wearing thongs and AIDS ribbons. Sick!'
He added that he was dismayed with the upcoming CGMC event 'The Ten Commandments: The Musical.' ' [ It is ] in April, just in time for Passover and Easter,' he stated. 'How disturbing is that?'
Lowe commented that he has nothing against the LGBT community but he does not 'believe in their movement of trying to normalize their lifestyle.'
