Department store Macy's at Water Tower Place threw open the front doors to celebrate Pride Month on June 10. The afternoon was hosted by Halsted personality Sunny Dee-Lite, who lip-synched to Diana Ross and then presented performers while making announcements.
Windy City Treble Quire and Lakeside Pride Marching Band both combined pop songs with gay standards to entertain shoppers on the second-floor balcony. Rainbow bracelets, candy and tattoos were distributed on the third floor.
Reigning Miss Illinois Continental Dee-Lite took pictures with LGBT supporters at the photo booth upstairs. Also, attendees could show their creativity by making Pride parade signs at an art table with a rainbow of Magic Markers.
Macy's continues its support of The Trevor Project, which assists LGBTQ youth, with celebrations and funding at multiple store locations across the globe. Levi's has provided a collection inspired by the AIDS Memorial Quilt that can be shopped for at the Macy's website.
