Windy City Performing Arts ( WCPA ) kicks off its 2003-2004 Silver Anniversary Season with Don We Now … XXV: Silver Bells, featuring the Windy City Gay Chorus, Unison: Windy City Lesbian and Gay Singers, and Windy City Slickers!
New this season is a special, one-night-only concert appearance Dec. 5 at Oak Park's Pilgrim Congregational Church, 460 Lake Street, in addition to the concerts at the Harold Washington Library Auditorium.
The stage will be decked for the holidays with the glimmer and shimmer of silver, celebrating the seasonand the 25th Anniversary of the Windy City Gay Chorus, under the direction of Interim Music Director, Ron Guthrie.
Windy City Gay Chorus will perform a selection of traditional holiday classics and favorites, including Praetorius' 'Lo! How a Rose E're Blooming,' movements from Antonio Vivaldi's 'Gloria,' and the 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.'
Unison: Windy City Lesbian and Gay Singers, under the direction of Dr. Wilbert O. Watkins, will ring in the holidays with selections that include a moving rendition of Paul Basler's 'Alleuia,' Handel's 'For Unto Us a Child is Born' from Messiah, and the favorite holiday classic, 'White Christmas.'
Windy City Slickers, under the direction of co-music directors Claire Bigley and Gillian Kelly, will bring their special magic and musical merriment to the stage with selections that range from a heart-warming 'Christmas Lullaby' to a side-splitting showdown in 'Rudolph Revisited.'
