The Metropolitan Community Church is holding its international General Conference this week in Chicago.
At a July 1 welcoming worship service, Rev. Troy Perry, the founder of the MCC, gave Chuck Renslow the annual Founder's Award. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, Renslow could not attend. Presenting the award were Rev. Elder Dr. Nancy L. Wilson (MCC moderator), Brian Parker and Rev. Troy Perry.
In presenting the award, MCC highlighted Renslow's 60 years of community work, including in co-founding International Mr. Leather and the Leather Archives & Museum. Rick Storer, executive director of the Leather Archives, accepted the award on behalf of Renslow.
More than 1,100 people registered to attend the MCC conference, from all over the world.
