Darrell Gordon was the guest presenter for the Lunch Bunch at Third Space at Lakeview Presbyterian on June 1 and 30the beginning and end of both Pride Month and Black Music Month. The month ends on the birthdays of Lena Horne and The Supremes' Flo Ballard.
Billed as "Classic Radio Day," Gordon played radio airchecks featuring legendary DJs Richard Pegue, of Chicago (who passed away in 2009); and Murray the K, of NYC (who died in 1982). Gordon wore a T-shirt featuring the line-up of The Drifters when Rudy Lewis, who was reportedly gay, sang lead from 1960 until his death in 1964 at age 27.
Gordon, a longtime anarchist activist, was involved in AIDS activism in Chicago in the 1980s and continues to be a community and queer liberation advocate.
