Local historian seeks memories of '70s, '80s

Grassroots historian Owen Keehnen is currently working on a book entitled The Legend of the Bearded Lady, which will capture the life and times of the noted Chicago performer of the 1970s and '80s as well as the downtown glitter scene.

The now-shuttered Dugan's Bistro, 420 N. Dearborn St., opened May 31, 1973. For almost a decade, it was an enormous part of Chicago's gay disco scene.

Those with stories about BL or the Bistro ( or the Eddie Dugan businesses, Coconuts or Paradise ) should email OwenKeehnen@yahoo.com . Those who know of anyone who might have tales to tell should pass on this message.
