Hal Sparks at Zanies July 24
Actor/comedian Hal Sparks will perform at Zanies Comedy Night Club, 1548 N. Wells St., on Sunday, July 24, at 7:30 p.m.
Along with starring as the inventive scientist Donald Davenport in Disney XD's Lab Rats, Sparks has directed a few episodes of the comedy show. He hosted E!'s Emmy-winning Talk Soup and had a starring role in Queer As Folk for many years. Sparks is also an accomplished musician performing with his band, Zero 1.

A'ville Sidewalk Sale July 22-24
Twenty-nine businesses in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood will line Clark Street with bargain goods, fashion, antiques, personal fitness offers and service specials at the annual Andersonville Summer Sidewalk Sale July 22-24.
Participating merchants will stretch from 5000 to 5800 N. Clark St. Some of the merchants slated to take part include Jameson Loves Danger, Andersonville Galleria, Scout, Orange Shoe Personal Fitness, Akira, Women & Children First, Swedish-American Museum and Milk Handmade.
The annual Summer Sidewalk Sale also coincides with the Women & Children First ( WCF ) Used Book Sale, held on Saturday, July 23, and Sunday, July 24, at 5233 N. Clark St.

Web series 'Brujos' to film in Chicago
Chicago native and award-winning artist/activist/academic Ricardo Gamboa has launched teaser scenes and the website for his project Brujos, currently a semifinalist for Sundance's episodic development lab.
Brujos is a web series following four gay, Latino grad studentswho are also witchesas they try and survive the school semester and a witch hunt led by the straight, white, wealthy, male descendants of the first New World colonizers.
Brujos will employ more than 30 artists of color and queer and trans artists for filming during November and will premiere in January 2017. Written by Gamboa, who will also co-direct with local director Reshmi Hazra Rustebakke, Brujos will be produced in collaboration with Scrappers Film Group and OpenTV-beta.

Leather Archives to mark 25 years in September
Leather Archives & Museum is preparing to celebrate its work of preserving leather/fetish/BDSM/kink history this fall, when the museum will host its 25th-anniversary weekend on Sept. 16-18.
Plans for the weekend include numerous receptions, educational programming, a walking tour, a banquet dinner, after-parties and, of course, tours of the museum itself.
Started in 1991 by Chuck Renslow, the Leather Archives & Museum was originally located at 5007 N. Clark St. The museum later moved to 6418 N. Greenview Ave. in 1999, where it has operated ever since.
Early-bird weekend registrations are $160 ( through June 7 ) and $200 thereafter, with VIP packages available for $300. Special discounted packages for $100 are available for those 21 to 29 years of age at the time of the anniversary weekend.
