Web series 'Brujos' to film in Chicago

Chicago native and award-winning artist/activist/academic Ricardo Gamboa has launched teaser scenes and the website for his project Brujos, currently a semifinalist for Sundance's episodic development lab.

Brujos is a web series following four gay, Latino grad students—who are also witches—as they try and survive the school semester and a witch hunt led by the straight, white, wealthy, male descendants of the first New World colonizers.

Brujos will employ more than 30 artists of color and queer and trans artists for filming during November and will premiere in January 2017. Written by Gamboa, who will also co-direct with local director Reshmi Hazra Rustebakke, Brujos will be produced in collaboration with Scrappers Film Group and OpenTV-beta.
