FIRE AT GAY CLUB
Fire raged through the properties at 1511-1517 N. Ashland Oct. 25, hitting the building that houses the mostly gay Latino club Faces.
Officer Thomas Donegan of the Chicago Police Department confirmed that the fire started around 1 a.m. and caused part of the building to collapse.
The CPD also confirmed that an accelerant was found at the scene of the fire. Chicago Fire Department officials are investigating the possibility of arson, but would not elaborate.
The club's owners were unavailable for comment at the time of this writing.

Holy Covenant MCC dedicates new home
Holy Covenant Metropolitan Community Church, which has been worshipping in Hinsdale, Ill., for the last 23 years, has purchased its first church-owned building in Brookfield, Ill. Holy Covenant held a Ground-Breaking ( renovation ) Dedication Oct. 28 at the new building, 9145 Grant in Brookfield.
Holy Covenant MCC is the first Metropolitan Community Church to own its own property in the Chicagoland area. It is the second predominantly lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community church to own its own building in the Chicagoland area ( following in the steps of Church of the Open Door on Chicago's Southwest Side ) .
According to Senior Pastor Dr. Rich Rossiter, "This facility will serve as an instrument for Holy Covenant MCC to fulfill its mission." The congregation currently worships at the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale.
Holy Covenant MCC is a member congregation of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, a Christian denomination with ministry to the GLBT communities. UFMCC provides 300 congregations in 15 countries.
