GERBER/HART FACES
FUNDING SHORTFALL
The gay and lesbian Gerber/Hart Library faces a serious...though not insurmountable...funding shortfall for the rest of the year, according to Michael Hemmes, new president of the non-profit.
"We need to raise at least $25,000 before Jan. 1 if the library hopes to survive past its 20th anniversary in November," he said in an e-mail to members.
Send donations to: Gerber/Hart Library, 1127 W. Granville Ave., Chicago, IL 60660. "You've been a good friend of Gerber/Hart ... and now Gerber/Hart needs a little help from its friends," Hemmes said.
G/H's annual Fall Book Sale has been scheduled for Sept. 29-Oct. 7. The book sale will be open from Noon until 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday and regular library hours for the rest of the week
