Dear Editor:
Less than two months ago and shouldering a severe cash shortage that threatened to close Howard Brown Health Center, we turned to the community that Howard Brown has served for 36 years and we asked for a lifeline.
The need to raise $500,000 in 50 days in order to keep the doors open seemed nearly impossible to obtain without a miracle. However, it happened when more than 1,400 donors answered the Lifeline Appeal. Thanks to the community's overwhelming generosity and grassroots support, the appeal has raised more than $660,000 and donations continue to come in.
As we prepare to begin a new year, we are grateful for the lifeline that we received in a time of great need. We want to thank the community for helping Howard Brown reach this momentous victory. We are deeply touched and inspired by the outpouring of contributions and sacrifice to create this "miracle" result.
Success of the Lifeline Appeal demonstrates the importance of Howard Brown in the community, and we pledge to continue the important work of providing quality health and wellness services to the community.
On behalf of the entire Howard Brown familyfrom dedicated staff members to the donors to our clientswe share our sincerest appreciation and deepest gratitude for your support.
Yours in good health from Howard Brown,
Jamal M. Edwards, President and CEO

Mark D. Andrews, outgoing Board Chair
