To the Chicago Tribune editorial board:
We are writing to disagree with the Tribune's editorial of Sept. 29, in which you supported the opponent of state Rep. Sara Feigenholtz in the 12th District. We are advocates for people living with HIV/AIDS, and can attest to the critical difference that Feigenholtz has made in the lives and health of thousands of Illinois citizens who are living with HIV.
Feigenholtz has been a strong advocate for the needs of children, teens, adults and families affected by HIV. She has sponsored many bills that have led to better systems of HIV prevention and care in Illinois, and those service systems have made a vital difference in the lives of many. She has been a champion for people living with HIV, including those living in her district and statewide. And she has worked tirelessly to protect the rights of Illinois citizens living with HIV, giving a voice to those have experienced stigma and discrimination as a result of their illness. She has done all of this tirelessly and without hesitation.
We need Sara Feigenholtz and more lawmakers like her to keep our state accountable, improve human and health care services, and protect the rights of Illinois citizens affected by HIV/AIDS.
Sincerely,
Linda Coon
