In the 1980's, lesbian culture was budding in many cities and small towns across Canada, the United States, Europe as well as in Israel and Japan. Telling the story of this movement through interviews with the key players of that time — activists, writers, philosophers, teachers, carpenters, nurses — Lesbiana paints an intricate and intimate portrait of the voices behind the movement to invent a life centered on women. At the root of it all was the liberating feeling that women-loving-women was the source of their strength, that together these revolutionaries could live differently.
