Lesbiana: A Parallel Revolution

Saturday. June 8, is the Dyke Delicious Series season finale, screening Lesbiana: A Parallel Revolution. The Dyke Delicious Series presents inspiring and groundbreaking lesbian-themed films \, plus special events, guests and film. This is the 10th anniversary year.

In the 1980's, lesbian culture was budding in many cities and small towns across Canada, the United States, Europe as well as in Israel and Japan. Telling the story of this movement through interviews with the key players of that time — activists, writers, philosophers, teachers, carpenters, nurses — Lesbiana paints an intricate and intimate portrait of the voices behind the movement to invent a life centered on women. At the root of it all was the liberating feeling that women-loving-women was the source of their strength, that together these revolutionaries could live differently. By taking themselves and each other seriously, they could change themselves - and ultimately change the world. Directed by Myriam Fougere. Canada, 2011, 63 min.

Lesbiana is co-presented by Black Cat Productions and Reeling: The Chicago Lesbian and Gay International Film Festival, social hour 7 p.m. at Chicago Filmmakers, 5243 N. Clark St. Screening at 8 p.m. Suggested Donation: $5

The Andersonville Midsummerfest will be in full swing. Just tell gatekeepers that you are coming in to see a film at Chicago Filmmakers. Grab a drink and grub and come on in for social hour before the film.
