Merrill Lynch, the international financial services company, is actively seeking qualified clients among Chicago's GLBT communities. To introduce themselves to potential clients, Merrill Lynch is sponsoring several private hospitality events at which Merrill Lynch executives can meet people one-on-one, and make a brief introductory presentation. There is no obligation, and the events are free for interested members of the community, but capacity is limited and reservations are required.
Windy City Times Theater Editor Jonathan Abarbanel will co-host the next two Merrill Lynch events, which he's personally designed as theater cocktail parties. They will take place Sunday, Nov. 6 and Monday, Nov. 7 at the Prop Theatre, 3502 N. Elston Avenue, beginning at 6 p.m. Also co-hosting are actor Bruch Reed and members of the Prop Theater staff.
There will be drinks and grazing from 6-7:30 p.m., with entertainment by the incomparable swing and traditional jazz pianist Sammy G. At 7:30 p.m., stand-up comic Sapna Kumar, Chicago's answer to Margaret Cho, will take center stage. Perhaps the only pint-sized, South Asian lesbian stand-up comic in the world, Ms. Kumar is a veteran of Zanies, Northalsted Market Days and the International Funny Women Fest.
Kumar's set will be followed by the Merrill Lynch presentation, and dessert.
Attendance is by reservation only: call ( 773 ) 506-9236 to leave your name and contact information.
