"A Tale of Two Cities: Bridging Chicago's Opportunity Divide" is the theme of the League of Women Voters of Chicago ( LWV Chicago ) annual State of the City luncheon and fundraiser on Wednesday, April 25, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Union League Club of Chicago, 65 W. Natalie Moore, WBEZ-FM South Side reporter, will deliver opening remarks and moderate a panel discussion. Moore is the author of "The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation," which won the 2016 Chicago Review of Books award for nonfiction. She will sign copies of her book which will be available for sale.
The panelists are Zachary Fardon, Managing Partner, Chicago office, King & Spalding and former U.S. Attorney, Northern District of Illinois; Evelyn J. Diaz, President, Heartland Alliance for Human Needs and Human Rights, and Juan Salgado, Chancellor, City Colleges of Chicago.
"Chicago prides itself on being a city of unique communities, each bringing its own flavor to our great city," says Anne Logue, League president. "Yet enormous fractures have created a city divided. Health, education, housing, jobs, and safety vary from zip code to zip code. The panelists will address how we can successfully co-exist and work together to create a better Chicago for everyone."
