On Saturday, June 15, at 2 p.m., in honor of Pride month, WTTW and The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events ( DCASE ) will host a screening of the new documentary The Lavender Scare, followed by a panel discussion moderated by WTTW producer Alexandra Silets, and featuring Windy City Times founder Tracy Baim and local LGBT historian John D'Emilio.
The event will take place at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St.
The Lavender Scare tells the little-known story of an unrelenting campaign by the federal government to identify and fire all employees suspected of being gay.
