The Lambda Literary Foundation announced Finalists for the 16th Lambda Literary Awards, celebrating achievements in gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender literature in 2003.
Chicagoan John D'Emilio is among those nominated. The controversial trans book by Northwestern's Michael Bailey, which is under attack for its scientific methods, was also nominated, but the Lambda Awards organizers may re-assess the book soon.
The Awards gala will be at the prestigious Chicago Mart Plaza Hotel June 3, on the eve of the Book Expo. See www.lambdalit.org .
