On Wednesday, April 25, Lambda Legal will hold its annual benefit gala in Chicago, Bon Foster, at the Art Institute of Chicago's Modern Wing. Presented by Northern Trust, the event will be an evening to celebrate the progress of our modern civil rights movement and will honor Executive Director Kevin Cathcart for his 20th year with the organization.
Drawing more than 500 guests annually, Bon Foster attendees will enjoy cocktails, a buffet reception and a short program. Bon Foster has become an elegant gathering of Chicago's legal, civic and LGBT community leaders.
WHO: Lambda Legal Executive Director Kevin Cathcart
2012 marks 20 years of service for Kevin Cathcart as Lambda Legal's Executive Director. Kevin's first initiative upon joining Lambda Legal in 1992 was to open the Midwest Regional Office in Chicago, made possible through a special bequest by Chicago attorney and activist Robert Bonvoulior "Bon" Foster. Since that time, Kevin has expanded the organization to five offices across the country with an amazing team of expert attorneys and advocates, and extensive support from many of the nation's leading law firms. Under Kevin's leadership, no longer can LGBT people be jailed for private consensual sexual behavior. In most states, no longer can children be removed from their parents simply because of their sexual orientation. No longer can schools ignore bullying of LGBT teens. And in a small, but growing number of states, no longer can same-sex couples be deprived of the right to marry.
