High Risk Gallery, the temporary gallery we have been running on the first floor of our building at 1115 W. Belmont, is having a second show. Some of the same artists will have work in this new show, which opens Friday, July 13 ( with an opening party Friday, Aug. 3 ) . There are also lots of new artists, and several upcoming film nights, poetry performances, AIDS benefits, and much more. See the calendar for details. The NAMES Project Chicago is hosting an enormous display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt at Navy Pier over Labor Day weekend. The Faces of AIDS will also be presented at this display. The NAMES Project is inviting agencies doing any type of AIDS and HIV work to have a table at this event.

Community Response, an Oak Park-based agency offering support services to those living with and those affected by HIV and AIDS, will be offering an advocacy training class July 26. Community Response needs people who are willing to take a leadership role in educating the public about HIV/AIDS. Girls Best Friend Foundation is offering more than $450,000 in grants for new and ongoing girl-centered programs with the goal of supporting programs for girls and young women in Illinois. Call ( 312 ) 266-2842 for details.

The Chicago Area Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce has named Barry Flynn, formerly of AIDSCARE, as its new membership director.

Gov. Ryan signed into law a measure that would expand Medicaid coverage to low-income women for breast cancer screening and treatment. House Bill 25, sponsored by Rep. Sara Feigenholtz, D-Chicago, seeks to fill a serious gap in women's healthcare.
