Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for a God that created us and loves us. The sins of racism, sexism, ageism and classicism are neoclassic examples of how we have fallen short. We have come a long way; however, we still have a long way to go in the walk with our God.
Our communities are full of wonders and pitfalls: We have been allowed to see each other within the framework of our divinity link and, still, we do not understand.
The association of freedom with ownership and individualism is a pillar of capitalism and consumerism it should never be replaced by selfishness
We have much to be thankful for if we can only unblock our vision of the other. There is no place for faux reality in these communities when it comes to love, dignity and justice. We should not be seen as saints or sinners, but rather as frail human beings who have much to be thankful for.
Pope Francis said, "Our presence in the world in the light of the humanist tradition: as a servant of life and not it's master (and) as a builder of the common good with the values of solidarity and compassion." It's a clear gospel message.
